Electricity

Department/Program: Electricity and Energy/Electricity

About the Program: The aim of this program is to train qualified technicians who have the basic knowledge of electricity systems and devices. Another aim is to grow up intermediate staff who can work at various electricity distribution and marketing firms. Including all these jobs, it is also aimed to train technicians who are needed by all levels of energy generation; solar industry, geothermal power sector, wind power sector, hydraulic energy industry, and nuclear energy sector, etc. Students who successfully complete the program are awarded with the qualification of Associate Degree in Electricity. The graduates of the program may apply to various undergraduate programs for a Bachelor’s Degree after getting the sufficient score in the Vertical Transfer Exam.

Work Areas: The graduates of the program have a wide range of work areas; setting up electricity transmission and distribution systems of buildings, maintenance and repair of automations systems at factories, wiring and repairing of every kind of electricity systems of planes, ships, cars, etc. All in all, every kind of device working with electricity power needs an electricity technician.

Goals of the Program:

  • To train students in the basic technical information related to electricity distribution and transmission systems and devices.
  • To make students gain the importance of following the latest technologies in their field of work.
  • To educate students how to prepare and apply work programs by taking into consideration the labor and worker safety.
  • To make students recognize the components used in the electric power generation, transmission and distribution.
  • To train students as entrepreneur, self-confident, innovator and qualified technicians.

Learning Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this program, the students will be able to;

  • Use analog-digital electriciy measuring instruments.
  • Design and solve electricity circuits in direct and alternative currents.
  • Design and implement electrical installation systems.
  • Repair and maintain electrical devices and systems.
  • Set up electricity power transmission and distribution systems.
